Three weeks ago, I started my ten days of South Island trip. We had an amazing journey through the countrysides, mountains and beaches where we saw the beauties that New Zealand has to offer. I started my journey in Wellington where we took the ferry (picture 1) to arrive in Picton. On our way to Kaikoura we saw a seal colony with baby seals. In Kaikoura (picture 2) we went kayaking in the middle of a dolphin pod. After the kayaking we took the road to Christchurch. Christchurch (picture 3) is a city that has been recovering (picture 4) for 6 years of two traumatic earthquakes. On our way from Christchurch to the Franz Joseph glacier, we went to a bizarre limestone formation (picture 5), where Narnia was filmed. In Franz Joseph we walked up the glacier. We also went to see the Mirror Lakes (picture 6). Afterwards we went to Milford Sound, in the middle of a national park. We ended our trip (picture 7) in the very touristic Queenstown (picture 8), where you could admire the first signs of Autumn (picture 9) coming through. I really enjoyed this trip. I was amazed by the different sceneries that we saw along the way during those long hours on the South Island highway.
We bezochten eveneens Mirror Lakes (foto 6).
